Responsibilities

The Exercise Physiologist will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  1. Assess the physical fitness of residence to measure strength, blood pressure, heart rate, and the amount of oxygen in the blood
  2. Develop progressive exercise regimens that are safe for residence with varied, sometimes serious conditions, in addition to monitoring small groups of residence who are exercising and documenting their progress
  3. Work with residence and have the ability to inspire confidence and motivate residence
  4. Conduct stress tests, using electrocardiograph (EKG) machines.
  5. Demonstrate correct use of exercise equipment or performance of exercise routines
  6. Develop exercise programs to improve participant strength, flexibility, endurance, or circulatory functioning, in accordance with exercise science standards, regulatory requirements, and credentialing requirements
  7. Explain exercise program or physiological testing procedures to participants
  8. Interpret exercise program participant data to evaluate progress or identify needed program changes
  9. Measure amount of body fat, using such equipment as hydrostatic scale, skinfold calipers, or tape measures
  10. Measure oxygen consumption or lung functioning, using spirometers
  11. Perform routine laboratory tests of blood samples for cholesterol level or glucose tolerance

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science or related field
  • Experience in exercise program planning, supervision, and risk factor modification counseling with cardiovascular rehabilitation patients.
  • Exercise prescriptions, program planning and development
  • Current AHA Health Care Provider BLS certificate
  • Current AHA ACLS certificate
